COMMON QUESTIONS
Straight answers about how we work, what we cover, and what to expect.
For Shippers
All 48 contiguous states. Alaska and Hawaii available via intermodal and coordinated freight arrangements.
Most quote requests receive a response the same business day. For urgent freight, call dispatch directly.
Spot rate is a one-time market-based price for a single load. Contract pricing locks in a rate for a defined lane and volume over a set period.
Yes. We coordinate permits, pilot cars, and step deck / RGN equipment for overdimensional freight.
A Bill of Lading is the legal document of carriage. The shipper completes the BOL at pickup — the carrier signs to confirm receipt and condition.
Signed Proof of Delivery is sent to you after delivery is confirmed. Most PODs are delivered within 24 hours.
Dispatch communicates delay status proactively, including new ETA and reason — weather, traffic, breakdown, appointment, etc.
Yes. -20°F to +70°F range with continuous temperature logging on every reefer load.
Yes. We coordinate port drayage and inland container moves for 20', 40', and 40' high-cube containers.
Notify dispatch within 24 hours of delivery with photos, signed POD noting damage, and a written claim. We coordinate with the carrier's claim department on your behalf.
Yes. Every carrier in our network carries active cargo liability insurance, verified before each booking. Coverage limits are confirmed on request for high-value freight.
No formal minimum. We regularly move partial truckload, full truckload, and power-only freight — tell us what you're shipping and we'll quote accordingly.
Yes. Dispatch provides check calls at pickup, in-transit, and delivery, with GPS-based tracking available on most loads.
Standard terms are net 30 from invoice, with same-day or expedited pay available by prior arrangement for qualifying accounts.
Detention and layover charges follow carrier tariffs and are disclosed on the rate confirmation before the load is booked — no surprise fees after delivery.
For Carriers
Active FMCSA authority, current cargo and liability insurance, satisfactory DOT safety rating, signed carrier packet, and no double brokering history.
Submit the carrier registration form on the Carrier Onboarding page. We'll review your authority and insurance, then send the carrier packet.
Pay terms are confirmed on the rate confirmation at booking. We offer fast pay options designed to keep your wheels turning.
Dry van and flatbed are our highest-volume needs nationwide, with consistent power-only and reefer freight as well.
Yes. Quick pay options are available at booking, and we work directly with most major factoring companies.
A satisfactory DOT safety rating is required. Carriers with a Conditional or Unrated status are reviewed case by case.
Freight is offered directly through your assigned agent or dispatcher — we don't operate a public load board.
No. Carrier registration and onboarding are free. We only earn on the freight we broker.
For Freight Broker Agents
Independent contractor (1099) only. Agents are not employees of DJ's Freight Broker LLC.
Starts at 60% of gross margin. 65% at $5,000/month gross margin sustained. 70% at $10,000/month gross margin sustained. Subject to performance and management approval.
Freight brokerage or logistics experience is strongly preferred. We're not the place to learn the business from scratch.
All quotes must be approved before booking. Booking outside the approval process or double brokering results in immediate termination of the agent agreement.
Not required, but preferred. Agents with existing shipper relationships ramp fastest; we also provide lead support for agents building from scratch.
Approved agents get access to our TMS, carrier network, and quote approval workflow, along with back-office support for booking and documentation.
Submit an inquiry through the Careers or Contact page with your experience and current book of business, if any. We'll follow up to discuss fit.
